Grounding (Rooting) Meditation

{14 minutes}

Grounding (Rooting) Meditation

Wake up outside.

The Lakota word 'chante' is often translated as people, but what it really means is 'treeing-being'. People here are understood to be the moving trees. In this practice we explore how to drop roots into the earth in a form of grounding meditation, respectful to the energies of place, and with humility.

Related to Grounding, Sit Spot (although in Sit Spot attention is directed outwards), Meditate, and Quiet Your Mind.

Who taught us this?

Hard to say who taught us this. Being still in nature is probably as old as humanity. This practice is related to, yet distinct from Sit Spot, which a core routine of nature connection more focused on relationship to place.
