Dance

Is there a more primal expression of life than dance?

To allow the body to move, in rhythm– to allow it to be taken by the great dance. The dance is Life itself. From tango, to waltz, to the mosh pit. From ballet, to Afro-Brasilian, to electric swing. From the great dances in traditional cultures in honor of the seasons, of festivals. From order to chaos, form to freedom, dance explores movement, rhythm, and expression. It turns the body entire into a listening device. It brings us into the music, into the present moment.

Related Practices:

Dance: spontaneous and free movement. The antidote to constriction. Related to other things that are about being in the body (Stretch, Yoga, Qi Gong), and loosening up (Ride the Waves). Through musicality related to Play an Instrument and Use Your Voice. An expression of our Natural Vitality. A way that we can Celebrate Success, and surface Archetypal Motor Gestures. Although its not on this website yet, check out Craig and Damon Foster's beautiful film called The Great Dance, about San hunters in the Kalahari.
