Bake

{A Written Practice}

Bake

One of my friends is a pastry chef. Baking seems to inhabit a realm at the intersection of art and chemistry. Precise, yet nourishing– baking either requires or engenders a particular sensibility. To be around bakers is to revel in the details of texture, crust, flake, and rise. Strong hands, chemistry, patience, and precision. On your mark, get set, bake.

There are many places you can go to learn to bake, so until we find the perfect restorative baker, we'll let you follow your instincts towards the bakers you love.

Who taught us this?

We've had family and friends since we were little who loved to bake. I remember the smell of pies baking as a child in my Aunt Marelyn's home. There was a concord grape pie they used to make...my mouth is watering thinking about it now.
