Toward Indigenous Models of Forest Stewardship

In this deep conversation, we explore the framework of Indigenous forest stewardship as it relates to the most pressing ecological problems of modern times; why it is imperative that we work in partnership with Indigenous communities, and learn some of the remarkable story of the Yawanawá people, who expelled colonial invaders twice, fought for the demarcation of their tribal lands, successfully challenged the Brasilian government to re-draw their territory, doubling their land under stewardship, and have led a project of cultural revival and nature-based businesses to find ways of meeting their economic needs while preserving their forest home.
