Prune Your Trees

Master Gardener Arthur Baker walks us through the art & science of pruning, part of what he calls 'Planthropology.': the call and response between plants and people.

In the video above, Arthur walks us through an early spring pruning of Old World apples (Wickson apples). We learn about setting the initial conditions for growth through cardinal points, the various pruning methods, the difference between light, medium, and hard prunes, how to work in a call-and-response fashion with the living energetic geometry of a plant.

Arthur brings a profound ecological understanding together with fifty years of experience in the relationship between plants, and people, introducing us to the art & science of planthropology.
