LOGISTICS: This is a LIVE FACE-TO-FACE training that will be held in Northern California at our eco-reserve near Nicasio, California. The location is about 20 minutes from San Rafael, California. The training is capped at twelve participants, plus the instructors.
ABOUT: This connection daylong will focus on the art and science of the connection (ventral vagal) system. Natureza Gabriel Kram is a pioneering connection phenomenologist mentored by Dr. Stephen Porges, Developer of the Polyvagal Theory. Dr. Jeff Rockwell is a world-leading neuroscience-informed manual therapist. Together they'll be teaching the art and science of connection through the social engagement physiology. Four participants will have the opportunity to receive a hands-on session with Dr. Rockwell, in the forest.
The morning session (9-12) will be focused on pedagogy and experientials to activate the ventral vagal system. The afternoon will be a bit more choose-your-own adventure, with some participants working with Dr. Rockwell, some engaged in structured connection practices (we'll do this based on interest) and some in restoration (It's up to you).
The training will be held on our pristine 10-acre property near Nicasio, California, in an old-growth Douglas Fir grove that backs up to a 437-acre property and a 320-acre property. At the property we have already encountered nearly fifteen species of plants, insects, birds, and animals that we have not seen elsewhere in Northern California, including giant salamanders, a Golden Eagle, rare orchids, etc.
Conditions on the land are rustic. There is a restroom, our film studio which contains our library, a cabin, and an outdoor room. There are places to sit and hammocks. In order to be able to comfortably participate, you should be able to walk about a quarter of a mile on relatively flat (no hills) but not even (there are no sidewalks) ground.
While the morning session is a group session, all activities during the afternoon will be optional. If you want to spend the entire afternoon in a hammock gazing up at the trees, that's just fine. If you want to engage in restorative movement practice, mindfulness, or dialog that will be available as well.
We will provide water (bring a container), tea, coffee, fruit, and pastries. Please bring a lunch.
