Hearth Science is making a transition to a post capitalist organization and architecture. Observing that our current economic system, which is essentially organized as a giant mine (an extraction engine) is collapsing on us as we continue to exploit humans and our mother Earth as reservoirs to be plundered,
And seeing, with clarity, coordinates of possibility beyond this paradigm, through a new set of organizing models, which will unfold forward in phases, and are based on the metaphor of a garden, we are inverting the foundational operating logic of our organization, and
1) Horizon 1: transforming access to our deep learning platform and courses from a model based on charging a high price for something of value, which is a form of enclosure (intellectual property, privatization of gain, mine model) to one of gift economy (commons of ideas, socialization of value, garden model) where pricing is set up with sliding scales that invite people to contribute what they can without straining. Learn more about the platform here.
2) Horizon 2: in partnership with a variety of stakeholders creating an eco-system architecture to scaffold this work forward in the form of a mycelial global collective, and of communities of practice in various fields
3) Horizon 3: focusing our forward horizon of attention on the birthing of villages (villaging), which are the unit of human flourishing best adapted to our deep evolutionary biology and to create the requisite islands of resistance/resilience required for weathering the coming storms with as much strength and grace as possible.
We humbly and clearly ask for your support of this transition.
I have personally been entrusted with the spearheading of this work, and am unable to shoulder the burden of its responsibility through its next evolutionary stages alone. Over the past five years I have worked nearly 80 hours a week, have donated nearly all of my time, and invested my entire life savings to give birth to this dream. If it is a dream that you share with me, with us, we would be grateful for your help.
You can assist us in this transition in any number of ways, depending upon your means and your inclination.
Here you can made a contribution to our 'Waterfall into Post Capitalist Architecture' project, where we will document this transition and keep you informed of its particulars, which are likely applicable to many organizations beyond our own with similar yearnings
The model we were working under has collapsed, a new world is being born. Please help us breathe it into vitality if you can.
Thank you,
Gabriel

(1) the term coordinates of possibility, and the notion of post capitalism, as we are coming to understand them, are coming to us from the work of Alnoor Ladha and Lynn Murphy from their book Post Capitalist Philanthropy: Healing Wealth in the Time of Collapse. They explain:
Post capitalism is an umbrella concept for us to better understand what we want to transition out of and transition into. Capitalism is not simply a system of market exchange. It is a system that measures and reduces the value of Life – including human labour, living ecosystems, relationships and life-force – via a crude system of transacational monetary exchange.
It is based on generating and accumulating ever-more commodified surplus value – i.e., more capital – by extracting, separating and abstracting currency from the human and more-than-human world. Capital is primarily created through debt, and therefore requires perpetual growth. Capitalism is a self-terminating algorithm based on socialising costs to the many while privatising gains for the few.
