Weighted Blanket
A simple way to settle the nervous system
A weighted blanket is a relatively simple way to settle the nervous system. Although you can invest in a therapeutically weighted blanket, often using a heavy blanket that you already have is enough. The blanket needs to be heavy enough that you can feel it. A wool blanket, or several blankets, can often do the trick. You can lie down, or you can drape the blanket around you. What you want to do is feed your skin with the sensation of weight, which the nervous system finds settling. If you've ever been to the dentist, and felt sedated by the lead-blanket they place over you when they are taking x-rays, you understand the way that this feels.
