The Relationship between Immunity and Stress
Immune function is not determined uniquely by exposure to pathogens. It is also determined by your autonomic state. Keeping your Connection System online keeps your immune system strong. Time for Restorative Practices.
While there has been a great emphasis in the media, and in public health circles on the importance of minimizing exposure to the Coronavirus pathogen, less attention has been paid to the role of Autonomic function in keeping the immune system strong. Stress compromises immunity, and in this moment, many of us are experiencing a wide variety of stressors that range from economic stresses (job loss, income reduction, etc.) to those arising from social distancing (how do we stay regulated when we can't be around our communities?), as well as the ordinary fears that arise in the face of an uncertain moment (what's happening? What is this virus anyway? Will things be alright? Will I be alright?).
The video above explores the relationship between immunity and the connection system.
