Craft of Being

Parallax: A dialog with Philip Shepherd (Embodied Present) & Natureza Gabriel (Autonomics)

Philip Shepherd is is Creator and Director of the Embodied Present Process. He is the author of Radical Wholeness, New Self, New World, and Deep Fitness. Fifty years ago, as a teenager in Ontario he watched a performance of Japanese Noh theatre, was thunderstruck by it, and decided to move to Japan to study it. For some reason he flew to the United Kingdom, got on a bicycle, and rode to Japan. Over the past fifty years, his explorations of the body through the present moment have transformed the texture of lived experience for thousands of people around the world.

Since the autumn of 2025, Philip and Natureza Gabriel (Founder of Hearth Science, Developer of Autonomics) have been in a co-exploration about the complementarity of their respective lineages of work. In January of 2026, Gabriel joined Philip in Carlsbad, California for five days of co-learning. This dialog is a fruit of this collaboration and co-exploration with a curated audience.
