Discover Tiny Moments of Unexpected Beauty
The sublime hiding in the mundane.
Have you ever been looking at something perfectly ordinary, and then noticed something of great and accidental beauty existing right along with it? You are looking at a pile of trash, and suddenly you find within it some remarkable symmetry? Last night as I was walking the dog, I discovered a meticulously modelled wooden ship stuffed into a garbage can. It was just so strange.
These moments can strike us, if we allow them to–glimpses of beauty in a world that can be so ugly in so many ways. And perhaps, by training ourselves to look for the beauty, we are more likely to find it.
With our cameras in our pockets, we can become collectors of the sublime: archivists of the ineffable beauty hiding just behind the surface of the everyday.
