April 23-27, 2024: 5-day training: Facilitating Emergent Coherence in Groups

LOGISTICS: This is a LIVE FACE-TO-FACE training held in Northern California at our pristine eco-reserve near Nicasio, California. The location is about 20 minutes from San Rafael, California and will be contributory to your deep learning journey.

ABOUT: One of the greatest challenges and necessities with teams is building trust, and engaging the full capabilities of every member of the group. As teams come together, build trust, and move into coherence, both performance and meaning-making can increase exponentially. This five day training, part of our exploration into neural architectures of the collective, examines how to facilitate working with groups in such a manner that this trans-personal intelligence can begin to emerge and cohere. Through the lens of connection phenomenology, this is a process with two wings. One is about building safety and connection, the other about removing what gets in the way. In this training we will focus on

1)the multiple hats a facilitator wears: bridge, mirror, translator, thought partner, coach
2)embodied facilitation through felt sense, in the present moment
3)tracking what is felt but unsaid or unnamed, and bringing this into presence to support group transformation
4)orienting facilitation to augment safety for those in the group with the least structural safety, which will increase it for everyone
5)tracking the implicit yearnings in a group and coaxing them into form
when to lean in and what to step back as a facilitator

Conditions on the land are rustic. In order to be able to comfortably participate, you should be able to walk about a quarter of a mile on relatively flat (no hills) but not even (there are no sidewalks) ground. In this training we will use our bodies. If you have mobility limitations this training is not a good fit.

We will provide water (bring a container), tea, coffee, fruit, and pastries daily. Please bring a lunch. Check the weather in Nicasio, California before coming and wear layered clothing. There are a variety of accommodations available in the area, including limited opportunities to stay at the land for a modest additional fee.
