This is an original painting by the internationally-celebrated Brasilian artist Francisco 'Chico' Liberato, who is now 84 years old. He has been producing culturally significant work since representing Brasil in the Paris Biennale in 1967. His ouvre encompasses the plastic arts: painting, sculpture, and engraving, as well as film-making and animation. He is a veritable fountain of creative production, tirelessly working on behalf of creative and cultural endeavors, celebrating the Indigenous and folkloric traditions of Brasil's northeast.
Chico's paintings literally hum, buzz, and vibrate with light and intensity. We purchased this painting after seeing it in his atelier in 2009. Its felt transmission is much larger than its physical size, 23.25 x 23.25 inches square. If you are interested in the painting, we can send you an entire series of pictures of it.
