LOGISTICS: This is a LIVE FACE-TO-FACE training held in Northern California at our pristine eco-reserve near Nicasio, California. The location is about 20 minutes from San Rafael, California and will be contributory to your deep learning journey.
This is a private writing retreat for people actively working on a manuscript with Natureza Gabriel, Founder of Hearth Science and author of the Connection Phenomenology series.
ABOUT: How do we locate the literary authority of our authentic voice? How do we write what is urgent and what we alone can say?
So you've been working on, or towards completing your book, but you are struggling with narrative voice, organization, structure, writing method, audience, etc.
1)Let's find the flow state of your narrative voice: who is speaking
2)Let's explore scaffolding architectures for the book: books can be written forward, backwards, or in spirals, but most people don't know how to do this, or even that it is possible. Let's figure out the organic shape of the book that wants to emerge from you.
3)Let's cultivate a writing practice that works in your life, facilitating flow states and removing obstacles
4)Let's figure out who you are writing for so that the book can become a conversation with a community
5)Let's talk about the business of writing so that you can get the book in the hands of the right audience: design, marketing, publicity, building an audience, etc.
This retreat will be a full-on sensory, aesthetic, and literary immersion in the craft of writing and the mechanics of making a book real.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Gabriel trained in Creative Writing at Stanford University where he was personally mentored by Adam Johnson, who has won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, and with Franco Moretti, Founder of the Center for the Study of the Novel. His article on the nervous system through the lens of water in Psychology Today has been read more than 30,000 times. Both of his Substacks have about 2,000 subscribers. He is also the Founder of Jaguar Imprints, a boutique literary imprint that publishes books of exceptional originality and high literary merit. He will be joined, virtually, for part of this retreat by Kevin Barrett Kane, our book designer at Jaguar.
