Sunrise Journal
Mapping Dawn
One of the most powerful energies that we can connect with, in times where we are not feeling hope, or having a clear vision of the future that we wish to create for ourselves, is the Sun. He rises each morning, with constancy (or we turn toward him, each morning, with constancy). The Sun is always in his place, in equilibrium, radiating the Superior Light down to where we are.
Many traditional and ancestral cultures have a practice of greeting the Rising Sun. Particularly when we are not feeling very connected to the Light, this is a very good idea.
In order to create a Sunrise or Dawn Journal, you’ll need to be up with the Sun, and able to see him. Already arising with the Sun synchronizes our circadian rhythms with the season.
Your journal can be kept in any format that appeals to you. I like to take photographs of the Sun at sunrise. You might want to take a photo, or draw him, or simply stand and absorb the energy.
No two sunrises are the same. The colors of the sky, the configuration of the clouds, the place where you are standing, the season of the year, the temperature. You could visit the same spot each morning and be awed by the variations from one day to the next. Or you could make it a practice to rise and greet the Sun wherever you are each day.

This is an elemental practice of connecting with the celestial forces, the celestial bodies. In this regard it is related to Watching the Sunrise, following Phases of the Moon, and Stargazing. Certainly it is a form of Meditating in Nature. If you listen to the birds, you may wish to know what they are saying, so learn Bird Language. Like all connection practices, it is a form of building ropes. And learning to connect with the Sun is part of The Original Language.Photography: | Licensed from Pexels.com, used with permission.
