Spoken Word

Spoken Word
Poetry in motion.
Tiokasin Ghosthorse, our Chair of Living Languages, points out that in English, poetry is the closest we get to a verb-based, dare we say sacred, language. The video above, from Jahn Khalighi, poetic documentarian to our Global Council of Governance, was harvested from the second convening of this council on January 15, 2022. Jahan performs the piece at our Northern California Eco-reserve #1.

In the Origin Story of our work, we bring attention to the Evolved Nest, which is the ancestral fireplace we all come from. At the center of the ancestral village is both the literal and metaphorical hearth. Around it is a circle. This circle represents our relationships, which are made from building ropes with all of life. Through these ropes we re-learn the original language, which can allow us to talk to birds. We exit the language of domination, and dismantle the construct of war. From this original fireplace, and the circle of light and heat around it (Qadash in Aramaic- the actual word Jesus used that is translated into English as Holy) come the ancestral technologies of relating. These, elementally, include this practice (Spoken word), which is a form of speaking from the heart. They include singing, dancing, drumming, gratitude practices. We learn to fan the fires of community, as we build multi-cultural communities To do all of this we need to learn the Science of Safety, and by so doing Turn on our Connection Systems.Video: | Photography: | Licensed from Pexels.com, used with permission.
