Practices
Would you like Jaguar to guide you, or would you like to explore on your own? Jaguar is an II (Indigenous Intelligence). She will guide you.
Jaguar, please guide me.
I’d like to explore on my own.
Ok, great. As you are exploring, you can use the filters to search for relevant practices. Use the duration filter to set Time limits for practices. Use the Self-care, Connect to Others, and Connect to Nature menu to find self-care, relationships, and nature practices. Use the Symptoms menu to find practices to respond to dis-ease. Use the keywords filter if you have a word or feeling in mind (there are 100 keywords to choose from). Use the training filter to search for educational films. Use the presenter filter to find films and practices that feature a particular presenter. You can also use our assessment tools to map out your connection assets or distress response patterns. Enjoy!
Are you here today to heal or grow? It’s probably both in the long run, but at this moment, is your priority to decrease distress or grow your capacities?
Heal
Grow
Do you want to down-shift stress or heal a particular symptom? In other words, do you feel stressed out generally? Or are you dealing with a particular symptom, such as difficulty sleeping, or gastro-intestinal distress?
Down-shift stress
Heal a symptom
If you take a moment to check in with yourself, right now, in this moment, and to notice your body, emotions, and mind in this moment, how would you characterize your dominant mood/ body/ mind state?
I feel irritated, angry, annoyed, aggressive, or pissed off (something on the anger continuum)
I feel anxious, nervous, fearful, afraid, worried (something on the fear continuum)
I feel spacey, sleepy, foggy, depressed, overwhelmed, or shutdown (something on the shutdown continuum)
I can’t tell or none of the above
Jaguar is going to show you specific practices now that address stress when it shows up through the fight response, which is characteristically associated with feeling pissed off/ angry/ aggressive/ irritated/ or agitated. We call these practices ‘cooling anger’ because the anger continuum is the emotional response associated with these body-based patterns. As these practices take effect, you may find yourself ready to focus on enhancing connection.
Jaguar is going to show you specific practices now that address stress when it shows up through the flight response, which is characteristically associated with feeling anxious/ fearful/ or worried. We call these practices ‘calming anxiety’ because the fear/ anxiety continuum is the emotional response associated with these body-based patterns. As these practices take effect, you may find yourself ready to focus on enhancing connection.
Jaguar is going to show you specific practices now that address stress when it shows up through the shutdown response, which is characteristically associated with feeling numb/ withdrawn/ or shut down. We call these practices ‘recovering from shutdown’ because the dissociation/ numbness continuum is the emotional response associated with these body-based patterns. Please note that often, as people come out of shut-down, they move back into fight or flight (anger/ fear) patterns. So don’t be surprised if that happens. It means your body is coming back into balance. You may next find yourself needing to work with anger (fight) or anxiety (flight) stress patterns.
Jaguar recommends that you take the distress assessment.
Our work is not medicine, or psycho-therapy, but is focused on the re-balancing the Autonomic Nervous System, which is implicated in stress-related disorders. Which, if any, of the following symptoms are you experiencing?
Addictions
Anger
Anxiety (recurrent/ persistent)
Chronic Pain
COVID-19 stress
Depression
Gastro-intestinal symptoms
Heart issues
Sleep Difficulties
At this time, we don’t have a specific set of practices formulated for your primary symptom, so we are going to show you a general list of practices for addressing stress-related symptoms.
Would you like to work on?

Connecting with nature
I’m not sure
Fantastic. Jaguar is going to show you specific practices now that will help you in self-care. These are focused on ’Training Your Attention.' You can use the filter sub-menus to focus on other categories, such as movement, sensory practices, or ways of knowing. Have fun!
Good for you. Januar is going to show you specific practices now that will help you build healthier relationships. These are focused on ‘Relating Across Difference’. You can use the filter sub-menus to focus on other categories of Connecting to Others, such as improving communication, setting clear boundaries. Our social justice and anti-racism work lives here, in Connecting with Others.
Cool. Jaguar is going to show you specific practices now that will help you deepen your connection with nature. These are focused on building connection to Land. You can use the filter sub-menus to focus on other categories, such as animals, honing survival skills, or learning the arts of life.
Jaguar notes that often people don’t have clear sense of exactly how to move forward. One way to proceed is to take the Connection Assessment. Another way is to use the Keywords filter, and see if anything resonates with you. If you are working with a guide or a learning partner, you could also ask them for feedback, or engage in an inquiry question with them.
